Future in the Making Ep #1: Detroit is where the future will be built

Chris Nolte launched a YouTube channel for his business, Propel Bikes, six years ago and grew it to more than 75,000 subscribers (at the time of writing).

Last year, he moved from his native New York to Detroit because - in his words - “things are coming together in Detroit”.

His new company, co-founded with Justin Kosmides, is called Bloom and is an operations-as-a-service marketplace for the electric mobility industry.

To help spread the word of Bloom and what Chris, Justin and their team are doing, he’s created a new channel: Future in the Making.

The reason behind this new channel?

To tell stories about the future that is being imagined and built right now by hardware companies.

This video is the first release from the channel and shares the backstory of what brought Chris to Detroit, what he’s seeing, and why he believes it matters.

The video includes:

• The realities of local production in America

• Why re-shoring is more than a trend

• What he learned from serving in Iraq and running a small business in NYC

• And why he believes how we build matters just as much as what we build
