Wisconsin is currently celebrating its rich history of making real things through the 10th annual Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest, organized by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC).

This year, more than 15,000 votes were cast in the initial round, demonstrating strong community engagement in highlighting the state's diverse and innovative products. The contest advanced its top 16 products into Manufacturing Madness on October 2nd and has now moved onto the Top 8, pitting each against each other in a head-to-head tournament-style competition aimed at showcasing the breadth and ingenuity of Wisconsin manufacturing.,

“Manufacturing is the largest industry in Wisconsin and a key driver of our economic growth,” said Kurt Bauer, President and CEO of WMC. “These products reflect the vibrancy and diversity of the industry, which is exactly why we hold this contest,” he added.

The public is able to vote in the top 8 head to head until October 14th, with the winner set to be revealed at the WMC’s Business Day event in Madison on October 23.

Previous winners in the annual event, which commenced in 2016 include the Milwaukee Eight engine by Harley Davidson, the Electrical Fire Truck by Pierce Corporation and last year's winner, Jolly Good Soda.

The top 8 sees the following match ups:
- #1 Seed Carbliss vs #5 Seed Comfort Custom Seating System by Permobil

- #3 Seed Search and Rescue 1000 Island Airboat vs #7 Seed: The Maple Shot 10 pack carton by The Maple Dude
- #8 See: 38 VTR Cruisers Yachts vs #13 Seed: Kikkoman Soy Sauce
- #11 See: Sargento Natural American Sliced Cheese vs #15 Seed: Extrication Tools by TNT Rescue Systems

The contest underscores the vibrancy of local manufacturing, covering a spectrum from agricultural and industrial equipment to consumer goods and specialty items.

It not only celebrates individual products but aims to reflect broader manufacturing trends in the state, where innovation and tradition intersect. It offers a platform for smaller companies and startups alongside major corporations, highlighting how manufacturing remains an important employer and economic pillar in the region. The Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest can potentially provide a snapshot of both current strengths and emerging market opportunities.
